Welcome to the assenters page

Folks,

PLEASE HELP!!

I am seeking nomination in the Meath Bye-Election on the fathers rights platform.

The time for nominations is unbelievably short. Apparently, nominations open today Monday 21st at 10 am and close on Wednesday at 12 noon.An independent Candidate must have 30 registered electors in Meath who assent to my going up for election. They do not have to commit to give me their vote.

I NEED 30 assentors to go to

COUNTY HALL,
Railway Street
Navan.

There they should ask at reception to sign the nomination paper for Liam O Gogain. Ask for Michael Arthurs or Angela Dunne. These officials of Meath County council will record the details.

Each assentor must be on the register of electors in County Meath and the officials in the county hall will verify.

Each assentor must bring PHOTO ID with them (this in effect means Driving licence or passport)

If you are not living in Meath perhaps you can contact a family member, a friend, a work colleague, or someone who supports Equality and fathers, and ask them to be assentors.

I have ordered 140,000 flyers (See attachment). Therefore I NEED these 30 signatories to be a valid candidate. Please confirm if you can get anyone you know in Meath to do this. It has to be today Monday 21st feb or Tuesday.

Please call me if you need more Information.

My mobile is 087 2543997

Regards

Liam O Gogain

See explanation of the legislation below

ELECTORAL (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2002

Section 1 provides that a candidate at a Dail election, who is notin possession of a certificate of political affiliation (confirmation that a candidate is a candidate of a political party registered in the Register of Political Parties), will require their nomination paper to be assented to by 30 electors (excluding the candidate or proposer), who are registered Dail electors in the constituency concerned.

Such a candidate or their proposer will lodge the nomination paper in the prescribed local authority offices (generally the principal offices of the local authority) for assenting by 30 electors.

Each assentor will be required to sign the nomination form in the presence of a local authority official and produce one of the prescribed photographic identification documents. The local authority official will then enter on the nomination paper the elector’s number on the register of electors, the nature of the identification document produced including any number on it, the time and date of the assentor’s signature and the official’s signature.

An assentor is only permitted to assent to one nomination at each election. The candidate or proposer will be responsible for ensuring that the completed nomination paper is delivered to the returning officer before the closing time for receipt of nominations at the election concerned.

A returning officer will not accept as a valid nomination, a nomination paper without a certification of political affiliation unless it has the required number of assentors and the authenticating details.
